When you need some time off, where do you imagine finding peace? Some people long for a cabin in the woods, far from the distractions of daily life; others dream of a quite bath, dewey and warm. The Bruksvagen Sauna in Sweden offers both: The sauna was built on a floating platform in the middle of the Swedish forest by Small Architecture Workshop to offer peaceful meditations. Alder wood lines the sauna’s interior, while fir wood was applied externally to weather proof the structure. The dark visual slats hide the light cladding inside, allowing the sauna to float peacefully without interrupting the natural landscape of the lake.
Living is better where life is wetter: Take a look at our book Rock the Boat for more from those who dwell on houseboats and other floating structures.
