Form Follows Function in this Minimal-Impact Holiday Home
It’s hard to imagine a more perfect retreat than ARCA in Paraty, Brazil. The holiday home is perched over the Perequé waterfall on the border of Parque da Bocaina. Designed by Atelier Marko Brajovic, the house relies heavily on the architecutre of the Asurini and Médio Xingu people who have lived in the area for generations. The house can comfortably fit two families and is outfitted with a full kitchen and bathroom. The generous open floorplan lends itself easily to hosting workshops or working in larger groups. Set against the breathtaking Atlantic Forest landscape, ARCA offers a quiet retreat for professionals with families who want to work comfortably amidst nature’s prime offerings.
Like many other architects, Marko Brajovic and his team strive to strike the perfect balance of architectural innovation and practicality when designing for balmier climates. To see how other designers, architects, and home-makers are approaching life in the tropics, browse Living Under the Sun.
