Cabin on the Border

Modular and Movable Design in the Woods

Nature is not always kind: torrentuous rains, scorching direct sunlight, and whipping winds rip away at even some of the most sturdy structures. The architects at SO? Architecture & Ideas in Istanbul built a modular and movable cabin flexible enough to meet inclement weather of any kind. Cabin on the Border is exactly what it says: a cabin straddling the border between Greece and Turkey, where balmy rain showers can quickly give way to bright sunshine, and where seasonable changes see the landscape being reborn on a quarterly cycle. Made entirely from laminated wood with light insulation, the cabin is equipped with screens and facades to fold in and out and offer inhabitants a terrace, a shelter, or a simple screen for shade.
