“I’m always inspired by the personal stories people tell, whether I hear them through a podcast, an essay or in person,” says Ellice Weaver of her work, a British illustrator currently based in Berlin. “If a story resonates with me I love to use my work to respond to that.”
With clients including The Telegraph, Anorak, Lenny Letter and The Pool, Ellice regularly creates editorial illustrations for a variety of themes. She is also a published graphic novelist – her first book, Something City, was published in 2017 and was awarded Best Indie & Small Press Comic by Pipedream Comics.
“There are so many vibrant voices, I find it great that designers can access those voices and respond to them through their own medium,” she adds. “I love to draw figures with unlikely forms and pair them with bright colour palettes and shapes. Finding the right balance between colours, textures and line or the lack of them is an important part of my process.”
