Frank Herbert’s Dune series has been enshrined in popular culture, from the grotesque, bloated mass of the evil Baron Harkonnen to the towering sandworms, breaching the mountainous dunes of the desert planet Arrakis. The Folio Society, a London-based book publisher, recently released a 50th anniversary collector’s edition of the book series, featuring artwork created by illustrator Sam Weber. Weber’s illustrations depict the characters and ecology described in Herbert’s work, with acute details that capture the intricacies of the faces and landscapes of Arrakis.
