Designer and typographer Michael Doret’s Summer Harvest series was originally commissioned by the United States Postal Service in 2002 before being shelved. When Doret was commissioned again in 2013 through art director Antonio Alcalá of creative agency Studio A, the designer reworked some of the original designs he had completed. Released in 2015, the Summer Harvest series consists of four stamps: Sweet Corn, Cantaloupes, Tomatoes and Watermelons. Inspired by the artwork on old seed packets, Doret used a limited color palette and bold, rounded lettering.
