Belfast-based designer Paul McNally asked me to submit to his Five Things project — a collection of favourite things from people of all ages, locations, and occupations. Paul hopes it’ll grow into an archive of interesting stories about us and the things we love.
So, here are just five of my favourites.
1/ Looking up
It’s awesome to look at the sky on a clear night, feeling motionless despite hurtling around the sun at 30km per second. I envy those who’ve been high enough to see the curvature of earth (upwards of 60,000ft, supposedly).

2/ A happy client
Over the years I’ve not always got things right with my work, so when clients are delighted I feel like I’ve accomplished something, and it’s good knowing I played a part (albeit small) in helping people get to where they want to be.
3/ Good company
When I’m with the people I love I try to remind myself that life can change in an instant, and that I should make the most of every minute.
Two of the ladies in my life
There’s something special how music can pull memories from places I don’t understand, showing me things I’m not looking at.
How about this for artistry?
Five Things is open to everyone, soon to be published as a book through a Kickstarter campaign. Submit yours here.
