If you’re dreaming of warmer, brighter days and have already had enough of the winter months, then make sure you take some time today to ponder over Matthieu Venot and his candy coloured photographs of minimalist architectural details, all captured against cloudless blue skies.
A self-taught French photographer, Venot loves to explore the buildings in his hometown of Brest in southern France, picking out clean and simple lines alongside interesting pastel hues to create carefully composed abstract shots that are perfect for the Instagram generation.
Dividing his work into various themes, his latest project, Prism, focuses on all the bright contrasting colours of his local architecture, while Ground Loop explores all the typical infrastructure you might find on a city’s streets – lampposts, handrails, staircases, fences, air vents… you name it, Venot finds the perfect frame and angle, turning the mundane into something glorious.
As you’d expect, Venot is a hit on Instagram. Make sure you follow him. Or visit his website at www.matthieuvenot.fr to see all his projects under one roof.
