The Designer Duo Captured the Subtleties of Tokyo’s Skyline in a Series of Animated GIFs

Amidst the constant sea of people, it can be hard to find a private moment in Tokyo. The Tokyo metropolitan area is often cited the most populous greater metropolitan area in the world, and the busy streets and overflowing residential zones are struggling to keep up with the constant growth in population. Still, designers Nina Geometrieva and Damjan Cvetkov-Dimitrov managed to steal away for a few quiet moments during their stay in a capsule hotel complex. The duo documented their visit in a series of subtle animated GIFs focusing on the hyper-ergonomic architectural vernacular that allows millions of people to live and work within the maze of skyscrapers. Subtle gestures mark the minimal photographs, emphasizing the human touches often dwarfed by Tokyo’s boundless sprawl.
