As the wide open spaces where people once lived loftily are quickly constricted, architects are facing a new series of queries: Should we build bigger or higher? Are construction costs more important than long-lasting materials? The team at Kodasema in Estonia designed the KODA Living Solution as a multipurpose pre-fab system for those hoping to find a simple but smart way to live, learn, and work. The rectangular volumes are lined with concrete on the exterior and wood on the interior with slabs of composite panels in between to promote insulation regardless of the KODA’s location. There’s a balance in each unit: modern technology meets timeless style, and lasting materials pair with forward-thinking designs—all in a movable and modular living solution.
