Bonnier is also shuttering five magazines.

Bonnier, the Swedish publishing conglomerate, has laid off 70 people from its U.S. group. That represents about 17 percent* of the company’s American workforce.

The publisher is also shuttering five magazines.

In the U.S., Bonnier is known for speciality magazine titles like Popular Science and Field & Stream. Bonnier PR rep Perri Dorset said the cuts are part of a “company wide realignment,” and that the publisher is also closing WaterSki, Wakeboarding, Sport Diver, Baggers and Dirt Rider.

Bonnier now has about 350 employees in the U.S., Dorset said.

* An earlier version of this story misstated the percentage of Bonnier employees affected by the layoffs.
