Symbols, which has a voiceover from Liam Neeson, will air in 33 countries worldwide.
According to TBWAChiatDay NY, the commercial was funded by McDonald’s, even though it carries no McDonald’s branding. Supporting companies include Burger King, Cargill, DreamWorks Animation, Facebook, Google, MasterCard, McCain Foods, McDonald’s, OMD, Twitter, TBWA and United Airlines, many of whom have donated media on TV and digital channels to distribute the spot.
“The private sector has a significant role to play in ending hunger and promoting peace,” commented Jay Aldous, WFP Director of Private Sector Partnerships, in a press release. “And this global effort is a powerful example of brands coming together with one voice to make a tangible impact in the lives of vulnerable people.” Each year, the WFP assists some 80 million people in around 80 countries.
