For this urban delight, Studio Christian Wassmann took the original site of a 1930s bungalow and added a three-story sculptural home with a tough concrete exterior. Projecting off an unraveling spiral staircase, the upper stories host an indoor area lined with vines and an upper rooftop sundeck. A simple wall was expertly designed on the patio as well: its boundaries echo the precise shape of the sun’s path as if an offering to the sun itself.
This Miami treehouse is one of the contemporary examples of how we live with plants featured in our book Evergreen. Browse the book to see more.
