‪#‎TBT‬ to Al Loving’s faceted glass and mosaic ‪#‎percentforart‬ project from 2001 at the Broadway Junction station on the J line. He uses natural light, vibrant color and geometric shapes to create a lively and engaging atmosphere at this Brooklyn crossroads. Loving’s 1969 painting “Rational Irrationalism” is now on view at the new Whitney Museum of American Art in their inaugural exhibition “America is Hard to See” through September 27.

In 1969, Loving became the first African American artist to receive a one-person show at the Whitney.
