On His Photographs of World Leaders’ Lunches

There’s a mythology around food that permeates its every moment: the archetypal last meal, the thrill of a first bite, or the art of celebrity rider. For the latest series by Dan Bannino, the Italian photographer recreated the personal mythologies around powerful people and their eating habits. Take, for example, Hillary Clinton: The politician was once quoted saying that she always carried her own hot sauce in her bag. Pairing clear visual cues with bright and flashy graphic elements, the series offers a touchpoint between us and these political powerhouses.
