If you love to get out in the fresh air on two wheels, then Chinese artist Pan Xun’s oil paintings of rusted and discarded bicycles will certainly appeal. Born in Liaoyuan, Jilin Province in 1963 and a graduate of the Lu Xun Academy of Art in 1987, Xun loves to paint what might seem mundane and forgotten to many, but actually holds a lot of beauty and wonder.

The often sad looking objects could tell a thousand stories from the life they’ve so obviously had. Left lying battered on the pavement or rusting by a forgotten bench, each painted bicycle has an alluring quality – one that sparks a need to rescue them, and bring them back to life.
