The Langitangi Country House
Wed, 12/20/2017 – 12:11
This country house by KRADS lines the banks of Hvítá, a glacial river in the south-western part of Iceland. The home straddles a dramatic cliffside rich above the churning water, and its broad palette of concrete supports wrangle in the organic shapes into an ordered and pragmatic structure. The two main volumes are frame the hillside and the moss-covered terrain, offering an equally breathtaking view of the mountains ahead. The house is also the result of a long-term commitment to the site: Over the past ten years, the owners have incrementally built up the home whenever they visited Iceland.
