Tylko is a furniture design startup from Poland, representing a new approach to the purchase of furniture design. Founded on a simple truth that every space is different, the Tylko app enables the possibility to customise designer furniture to suit specific needs and personalities. Tylko is Polish for “only” and this outlines the brand approach — allowing the middleman to be cut out — passing on savings in time and money to the customer.
The launch of the brand had been planned for one of the biggest design events in the world — The London Design Festival. At the same time, the brand was launching into two major, demanding markets — Germany and Great Britain. The bar was set quite high for us.
Tylko is a story about making things simple. It lets you customise a piece of furniture with just a few swipes of your smartphone, see it through augmented reality, and order it with a few clicks. This simplicity and revolutionary approach became the key brand values and the outline for our design.
We chose two typeface sets: Px Grotesk and Lettera-Txt.
Px Grotesk charmed us with its geometric boldness. We found it useful to emphasise the key brand values — simplicity and revolution. Lettera-Txt infused the project with a blend of freshness and warmth.
The use of a strong colour — orange, with some red notes — is also a reference to the brand values, and boosts the whole identity with energy.
We designed the responsive e-commerce platform and the first version of the Tylko app. The app lets you preview your custom piece in your space at its actual size, so you know it will be a perfect fit wherever you choose to put it.
