Even today, women are underrepresented in the pro photography industry, but when Annie Griffiths began working for National Geographic, she was one of the organisation’s only female photographers.
Since then, she’s travelled to more than 150 countries (sometimes with her children), and her work has appeared in many magazines and books and received numerous notable awards.
She has worked on dozens of projects for National Geographic, including stories on Lawrence of Arabia, Baja California, Galilee, Petra, Sydney, New Zealand, and Jerusalem. And yet, there was a time when she questioned whether she was doing the right thing.
